Obligation to obtain a permit to re-enter Korea

Foreign citizens are obligated to obtain a permit in order to re-eneter South Korea. This re-entry permit has to be granted  prior to the departure from KR.

Czech Embassy in Seoul has received information from the Korean Ministry of Justice, that foreign residents have to obtain a Re-entry permit. Details are as follows:

The Government of the Republic of Korea has suspended the Re-entry Permit Exemption as of June 1, 2020, to address the COVID-19 spread. The government requires that all registered foreign residents must obtain a Re-entry permit before their departure and according to their current status of stay.

Under the measure, all foreign residents re-entering the nation from overseas, except for Diplomat (A-1), Government Official (A-2), International Agreement (A-3) and Overseas Korean (F-4) status holders, are required to obtain a Re-entry permit on the HiKorea website (www.hikorea.go.kr) at least 4 days prior to their departure.

Foreign residents who have departed from ROK without receiving the Re-entry permit before departure will have their Foreign Resident (Alien) Registration cancelled and thus will be obligated to obtain a new visa to re-enter the ROK.
