Round table – development of economic relations among China, USA and EU

The Consulate General of the Czech Republic made use of a one day visit to Shanghai of Czech-American economist Mr. Jan Švejnar, Professor of Global Economic Relations at Colombia University, to organize a political round table on 25 March 2019.

Representatives of a Diplomatic Corp, academic and business circles and media discussed the latest development of economic relations among China, USA and EU, its perspectives as well as an impact it may have on the global economy. The event took place in the original Czech restaurant „Bohemia“.

In the afternoon´s programme Professor Švejnar presented a lecture for invited guests. He summarised an economic situation and a growth forecast in three major world economies, i.e. China, USA and EU and commented on the latest development of their relations. He evaluated main trends in the Chinese economy in recent period of time, predicted an economic growth and outlined expectations vis-a-vis foreign direct investments and trade exchange.
