State Reception celebrating the National Day of the Czech Republic

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in the Republic of Macedonia organized a reception on October 18 to commemorate the Independence Day of Czechoslovakia of October 28, 1918. The reception took place in the Gallery of NLB banka in the centre of Skopje.
The President of the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Gjorge Ivanov, Deputy prime minister for European Affairs Mr. Arber Ademi, Minister of the Interior Mr. Oliver Spasovski and numerous other important guests and representatives of diplomatic corps attended the reception.
 

Famous film director Mr. Jiří Svoboda, script editor Mrs. Marča Arichteva and producer Mr. Viktor Krištov, who introduced their films „Jan Hus“ and „Cyril and Methodius: The Apostles of the Slavs“ during an International Film Festival „Bogorodičen pokrov“ (October 15-19), were among prominent guests too.

Ambassador Miroslav Rameš in his opening speech mentioned the thousand-year-old tradition of the Czech State, the most important personalities in the Czech history, spiritual, cultural and linguistic similarities of our two nations,  their long-term historical connection as well as more than twenty years of cooperation of both countries in many areas and also emphasized the Czech support for the integration of Macedonia into EU and NATO.

Over 200 guests could enjoy some of the traditional specialities of the Czech cuisine, an exhibition “Great Czechs by Little Czechs” and art works of the Macedonian participants of the International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice.
