The Czech Republic has donated more than 1mil EUR to Macedonia to deal with the migration crisis

On June 16, 2017 Ambassador Miroslav Rameš and Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Macedonia, Oliver Spasovsky, signed a donation agreement to provide funds to the Macedonian Ministry of the Interior for a total amount of more than CZK 28 million, i.e. over 1 million EUR. This amount should primarily be used for the purchase of passenger cars for the purpose of strengthening the protection of the state border of the Republic of Macedonia and, in part, for the purchase of technical equipment as part of a project implemented jointly with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

During the press conference and during the subsequent meeting, attended also by the representatives of the 10th contingent of the Police of the Czech Republic, including its commander. Jan Štáf, Minister Spasovski expressed appreciation to the Czech government for the long-term political, financial, material and personnel support provided to his country in managing the effects of the migration crisis, as well as the current "other extraordinary contribution", which will significantly strengthen the capacity of the Macedonian police. In detail, he quantified the financial form of assistance and the number and high professionalism of members of the Czech Police, helping their Macedonian colleagues to guard the southern border.
