The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Stockholm supported the theatrical adaptation of Karel Čapek's short story An Anonym

On Friday 26th May, at 17:00, a theatre performance based on Karel Čapek's short story took place at Teater Tribunalen in Stockholm.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Stockholm supported the translation of the theatre adaptation of Karel Čapek's short story "An Anonym", which was part of the festival "Two Weeks in May" at Teater Tribunalen in Stockholm.

Who writes anonymous hate letters? And why? The question of anonymous posts remains relevant today, in the age of social networks. Karel Čapek drew on his own experience; in the 1930s he received hundreds of anonymous hate letters a day.

The story was written in 1938 and is set in Prague. Back then, there were no chats or chatbots, but the city had a very efficient system of piped mail ...

Through Capek's text, it is an exploration of the eternal capacity of hate and what hate does to us.

On stage as Mr. Divish:        Maria Norgren

Directed by:                            Ester Holmén

Translation:                            Karin Eriksson

The performance lasted 30 minutes and was performed in Swedish. It was a short discussion followed by questions.
