The Czech Center in Stockholm and the Swedish-Czech-Slovak Society of Compatriots under the auspices of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Stockholm organized on October 26 a screening of Jiří Menzl's Oscar-winning film "Closely Watched Trains". The event was held on the occasion of the Independent Czechoslovak State Day.

Czech compatriots, members of the diplomatic community and the general cultural public gathered at the Zita cinema in central Stockholm to commemorate the work of prominent Czech film director Jiří Menzl and watch his Oscar-winning film "Closely Watched Trains".

Guests were welcomed by chargé d´affaires a.i. Martin Bašta and the director of the Czech Center Zuzana Kabelková. Film critic Hynek Pallas also shared his observations on Jiří Menzel's work in his introductory speech. Due to the restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic up to fifty invited guests took part in the event.
