Ambassadors of V4 and US discussed strengthening of cooperation

The Heads of Missions of Poland, Hungary, Czechia, and Slovakia (V4 countries) discussed on October 1, 2020 with the US Ambassador in Stockholm how to strengthen and grow economic and security cooperation between the US and the V4 countries region.

The US is a very important partner for the Visegrád countries. During the meeting, several important issues were discussed, such as current foreign and security policy challenges, NATO alliance, EU-US relations, energy, and cyber security.

One topic of discussion was for instance about the US 5G Clean Initiative that embodies the highest standards of security against untrusted, high-risk vendors’ ability to disrupt, manipulate or deny services to private citizens, financial institutions, or critical infrastructure. This has a connection to the resulting Prague Proposals (May 2019) on 5G security published by the Czech conference chair serving as a set of recommendations and principles for nations to consider as they design, construct, and administer their 5G infrastructure.

Ambassadors Adrien Müller, Martina Balunova, Joanna Hofman, Kenneth A. Howery a Chargé d’affaires a.i. Martin Basta took part in the meeting.
