Concerts of Chorea Academica

Katrineholm joined celebrations of the 100th anniversary of establishment of the independent Czechoslovakia by organizing two concerts of the Choir of the University of J. E. Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem, Chorea Academica.

On Friday 26 October Chorea Academica performed with famous Swedish musician George Riedel (native of Karlovy Vary, also known in the Czech Republic for music for the series Pipi Long Stockings and Children from Bullerbyn) at Floda kyrka. For the second concert Chorea Academica were joined by Katrineholm Chamber Choir (Katrineholms Kammarkör) at the House of Music Academy (Musikenshus), on Saturday 27 October, with Ambassador Jiří Šitler and his family in attendance. The Ambassador during his speech thanked the artists, as well as Katrineholm's Club of Speech and Culture, led by Mrs. Jarmila Kocourková and Mrs. Tine Hallberg, for the organization of celebrations and the city of Katrineholm for financial support. Both concerts and the the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia were widely reported in local press.
