Minister of the Environment Anna Hubáčková led the Czech delegation at the Stockholm+50

Minister of the Environment, Anna Hubáčková, led the Czech delegation to the UN international meeting "Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity", which took place on June 2-3, 2022 in Stockholm.

Due to the approaching Czech presidency of the Council of the EU, during the Stockholm+50 meeting, an unusually high interest in meeting the Czech delegation was evident. On the sidelines of the meeting, the leaders of the Czech delegation met with ministers and other leaders of more than 15 countries. During the meeting, the Czech Republic confirmed that in the ecological field it will focus on the Fit for 55 agenda, soil protection and the issue of the influence of light pollution during the upcoming presidency. A very important part of the Czech presidency in the area of ​​the environment will be the coordination of almost twenty international events, including the COP27 conferences on climate change and COP 15 on biodiversity.

The Stockholm+50 meeting was preceded on 1 June by the High Level Segment of the Conferences of the Parties to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions, which provided an interactive platform for ministers to exchange experiences and political leadership to renew their commitment to the implementation of the chemical conventions. Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Environment Jan Dusík was the moderator of one of the panels.

The Stockholm+50 conference was attended by political representatives of UN countries, as well as scientists and representatives of the non-profit sector. Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf, Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, Kenyan President Jomo Kenyatta and UN Secretary-General António Guterres jointly opened the session.
