Minister for European Affairs Mikuláš Bek discussed the EU presidency in Stockholm

On the 17th and 18th March 2022, the Minister for European Affairs of the Czech Republic Mikuláš Bek paid a working visit to Stockholm.

During his stay, he held talks with the Minister for EU Affairs of Sweden Hans Dahlgren. The main topics of the ministers' meeting were the war in Ukraine and how current events will affect the forthcoming Czech and Swedish presidencies in the Council of the EU. The two ministers agreed on the need to isolate Russia politically and economically as much as possible, including the harshest sanctions, and to start planning and preparing for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

On the sidelines of his visit, Minister Bek met with selected representatives of the Swedish government. He discussed current trade, energy, digitization and environmental issues with Foreign Minister Anna Hallberg, Minister for Energy and Digital Development Kashayar Farmanbar and State Secretary to Minister of Climate and Environment Anders Grönvall, especially in the context of preparations for the Czech and the Swedish presidencies of the Council of the European Union and the current situation in Ukraine.

During his stay, Minister Bek also met with the leaders of the EU Committee of the Swedish Parliament, Pyry Niemi and Jessica Roswall.

At the end of his stay, Minister Bek provided an interview with the main Swedish public service media.
