Long stay visa - Other

Information for applicants for all other types of long stay (for over 90 days of stay) visas

Please read the following information carefully before lodging your application. Applicants for this type of visa must generally apply in person at the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Sydney.

Each applicant must lodge their own application. Applications for children (under 15 years of age) will be completed and signed by their parents. Dependants (spouse/children) accompanying the primary applicant are required to lodge their application at the same time as the primary applicant.

All supporting documents must be submitted in original or certified photocopy. Documents in languages other then Czech must be officially translated into Czech language. All statutory declarations and legal documents signatures must be witnessed and certified by a notary or a Justice of the Peace. All documents issued by official Government authorities in Australia or New Zealand must be stamped with an Apostille (usually obtained from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Australia or Department of Internal Affairs in New Zealand).

Required documentation:

Applicants for a long stay visa (over 90 days) will need to submit:

1. Application form
Completed and signed visa application form together with two passport sized photographs.


2. Travel document
Travel document (passport) valid for at least ninety days after the proposed end of stay in the Czech Republic.


3. Evidence of sufficient funds
Evidence of adequate financial support for the duration of stay, eg. current bank statement, letter from financial institution and a proof that you will be able to withdraw these funds while in the Czech republic (for example copy of internationally recognized credit/debit card).

A minimum of CZK 41 100.- or equivalent (AUD 2500,-) is required and additional CZK 5480.- (circa AUD 334.-) for each month of stay.

Children under 18 years of age are required half of the above amounts.

4. Evidence of purpose of stay

Business

  • document issued by the Trades Licensing Office (Živnostenský úřad) confirming suspension of the Trade Licence approval process due to need for long term visa only; or
  • Trade license ("Živnostenský list"); or
  • preliminary Trade license (ohlášení živnosti); or
  • Business license ("Koncesní listina");, or
  • contract or notary protocol (notářský zápis) confirming the establishment of a company; or
  • Companies Register entry ("Zápis do Obchodního rejstříku")

Family/Accompanying family member

  • marriage certificate - for spouses; or
  • birth certificate - for children; or
  • other document proving the relationship to relatives

Visit

  • Official invitation form certified by the Foreigners Police of the Czech Republic

Other purposes

  • These include medical treatment, sporting events, cultural events, official or political events, etc.Evidence that the applicant is going to attend such event.

5. Accommodation

The document confirming the availability of accommodation means a document by which you prove the availability of accommodation and which indicates that the accommodation will be provided for the required period of stay from - to or for an unlimited period, i.e. document about ownership of an apartment or a house, document confirming the right to use an apartment or a house (e.g. accommodation, lease or sublease agreement) or confirmed written approval of the owner to use an apartment or a house, with the owner´s verified signature (by notary public).

The accommodation can be arranged only in a piece of property that is properly signed with an evidence number and is designated to provide housing, accmodation or recreation.

6. Certificate of health insurance

When submitting long-term visa application, travel health isn’t required, but the applicant must provide proof of holding travel medical insurance before the visa is affixed to his travel document. The insurance must cover the entire period of the applicant´s stay in the Czech Republic as determined by the validity of the visa.

7. Criminal record clearance - Police clearance certificate (only for applicants older than 15 years)
Evidence that the applicant has no record in the Criminal record of the country that issued his passport and any other country/countries where he has resided during the last 3 years for more than 6 months.

8. Fees

Payment of the fees:

When submitting  the application in person at the Consulate the fees are paid by card.

If the application is submitted by post, the information regarding the payment of the fees will by send to you by email.


Additional information:

Long stay visa applications are processed within 90 days after receiving a complete application. In complicated cases 120 days.

Please note that visa processing and all other fees are subject to change without notice.

Please include details how your passport should be returned.

  • AUSTRALIA - If by mail, a self addressed  Express Post  Platinum satchel has to be enclosed.
  • NEW ZEALAND and other coutries - you may arrange any courier company to pick up your passport once the visa is issued or you may be charged for desired postage. For New Zealand it is 29 AUD for the International  Express Post.
