Lajka Landed on Taiwan

On Sunday October 28, 2018, the 8th year of the KuanDu International Animation Festival (KDIAF) was launched at the Taipei National University of the Arts, focusing this year on Czech animation. The organizer invited – together with CECO among others – the most renowned Czech animators Jiri Barta and Aurel Klimt and the program director of the Anifilm festival Pavel Horáček to be on jury, deliver lectures and lead master workshops. Mr. Klimt´s Lajka was the opening movie of the festival.

KuanDu is the biggest animation festival on Taiwan, and its credit has been growing every year - the stunning number of more than 2000 registered movies from all over the world can illustrate this. Besides the nominees´ selections, the festival focuses on the introduction of Czech animation production – both by screening the works-of-art of the artists present, and by screening Anifilm selections and presenting the current Czech animation work – by majority conducted by students.

It is an honour for us to have the chance to support the Czech participation at this ambitious, professional, and yet widely accessible and generally pleasant cultural event. We wish gentlemen Barta, Klimt and Horáček to enjoy sensitive audiences, and we invite you most cordially to attend some of the festival screenings.
