Deputy Minister of industry and trade Vladimír Bärtl used a very unorthodox mean of transportation for his arrival to Tallinn for the informal Council of the EU for Competitiveness. In order to promote the Czech aviation industry he chose to fly to Tallinn in a four-seat plane ZLIN Z 143 LSi Genius and he showcased this modern product of Czech manufacturing to the Estonian audience.

Deputy Minister piloted the aircraft himself accompanied by the legendary Czech aerobatics pilot Jiří Kobrle. The manufacturer of the plane, company ZLIN AIRCRAFT provided the plane for promotional purposes and with this aircraft it continues the almost 90 year long tradition of aeronautics industry in the region. The four-seat ZLIN Z 143 is used in a variety of areas – as a trainer aircraft and also for business, family and touristic flights.

Flight schools and air-forces of several NATO member states make the main body of customers for this airplane. The ZLIN Z 143 is on the NATO trainer aircraft list but serves as a courier, border surveillance and search & rescue operations aircraft as well.

In the Czech Republic the plane is used in the air-force and also regularly by the Red Bull Air Race pilot and European champion Martin Šonka who is also an aerobatics world championship silver medallist.
