The Visit of Czech Minister of Defence Mr. Martin Stropnický to Estonia

The Minister of Defence of Czech Republic Mr. Martin Stropnický visited Estonia on 31 May to 1 June. He met his Estonian colleague Mr. Hannes Hanso and the director of NATO Cyber Defence Centre (CCD COE) Mr. Sven Sakkov. Minister Stropnický was the keynote speaker at the CyCON 2016 cyber security conference together with the Estonian president Toomas Hendrik Ilves. Minister also visited Ämari airbase.

Estonia was the first stop in the Ministers‘ visit to the Baltic countries. The bilateral relations and positions were discussed in a very friendly atmosphere just before the upcoming NATO Warsaw Summit. Partners exchanged views on security situation in general but also specifically in the Baltic region, common positions were confirmed during the meetings. Minister Stropnický announced the initiative of Visegrad countries to send rotating infantry units to the Baltic countries. The minister had also elaborated disucussions in the area of cyber security – the activities of NATO CCD COE where Czech Republic is also represented, were highly appreciated. Also Ämari airbase was highly esteemed by the Minister.

The visit confirmed the high level of relations between the two countries.
