The Delegation of the Czech Cyber Security Agency (NÚKIB) visits Tallinn

On 20 and 21 April 2022, the delegation of the Czech Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB), headed by its director, General Karel Řehka and accompanied by the Special Envoy for Cyber Security at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former Ambassador to Estonia Mr Richard Kadlčák, paid a visit to Tallinn. 
 

The mission was undertaken on the occassion of the largest global cyber defence exercise called Locked Shields and organized by the NATO Co-operative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCD COE) where 24 teams (both national and co-operative) from its various contributing nations competed this year. The Czech Republic currently seconds 3 national experts to the Centre, making it, along with Germany, the second largest contributor after the host country of Estonia.

However, the main aim of the visit was to enhance bilateral co-operation between NÚKIB and its Estonian counterparts and other partners in the field of cyber security, cyber defence and information security (including cryptography). The main counterpart in the meetings was the Estonian Information System Authority (RIA), where the delegation met with various experts including Director General Margus Noormaa and Director of Cyber Security Gert Auväärt. The delegation received a detailed overview of the mission, structure, responsibilites and competencies of RIA and a detailed insight into its activities in the field of cyber security. The meeting resulted in specific follow-up steps towards closer co-operation at working levels between NÚKIB and RIA.

Apart from RIA, the delegation was also received by the Ambassador-at-Large for Cyber Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Mr Tanel Sepp, Estonian Foreign Intelligence Service (EFIS) which is in charge of dealing with crypography and certification of classified documents, Colonel Jaak Tarien, Executive Director of NATO CCD COE, Director of National Cyber Security at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, Mr Raul Rikk, and experts in charge of cyber defence at the Estonian Ministry of Defence: Ms Laura Oolup, Acting Director of Cyber Policy Department and Mr Mihkel Tikk, Deputy Commender of the Cyber Command of the Estonian Defence Forces.
