Commemorative plaque to Czech singer Josef Navrátil-Ratili unveiled in Tbilisi

On 28 October 2015, a plaque in tribute to Czech opera singer and leader of the first Georgian folk choir Josef Navrátil, known in Georgia as Ratili (1840-1912) was unveiled in Tbilisi by Ambassador of the Czech Republic Tomáš Pernický together with the Mayor of Tbilisi David Narmania and Chairman of the Tbilisi Municipal Council Giorgi Alibegashvili.

The event to mark 175 years since the birth of Josef Navrátil-Ratili, organized by the Georgian-Czech Association Láska-Praha (Love-Prague) within the framework of the National Day of the Czech Republic, continued by a glass of wine hosted by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the nearby Folklore State Centre of Georgia where the legendary Georgian ensemble Erisioni sang some songs from Ratili´s repertoire.

Earlier that day, Ambassador Tomáš Pernický laid flowers to the tomb of Josef Navrátil-Ratili in the pantheon of the Kukia cemetery in Tbilisi.
