A visit to World War II veteran Irakli Kandareli

Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Georgia Tomáš Pernický together with Defence Attaché Lt Col Štefan Grivalský and officer of the NATO Liaison Office in Georgia Jiří Preclík visited on 9 December 2015 the 92-year-old World War II veteran Irakli Kandareli in the town of Gori.

They gave Mr. Kandareli a signed photo of President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman for his apartment museum and congratulated him on his recent 92nd birthday. In the spring of 1945, Mr. Kandareli took part in the liberation of several Czechoslovak cities, mainly in Northern Moravia, and is now the Honorary Citizen of the cities of Ostrava, Olomouc, Opava and others.
