A visit to World War II veteran Irakli Kandareli (93) in Gori

On 9 March 2017, Ambassador of the Czech Republic Tomáš Pernický together with Deputy Head of Mission Jiří Preclík visited the 93-year-old World War II veteran Irakli Kandareli in the town of Gori. In April and May of 1945, Mr. Kandareli took part in the liberation of several Czechoslovak cities, mainly in Northern Moravia, and is now the only living Honorary Citizen of the city of Opava. He is also a Honorary Citizen of Ostrava, Olomouc and several other cities.
