Concert for soprano, trumpets, timpani and organ to mark Czech Republic´s National Day

On October 23, 2017, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Georgia organized a concert for soprano, two trumpets, timpani and organ in the Roman Catholic Church of Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Tbilisi on the occasion of the National Day of the Czech Republic, the 99th Anniversary of the Foundation of Czechoslovakia.  

At the opening of the concert, the national anthems of the Czech Republic and Georgia were sung by the Children´s Choir of the Evgeni Mikeladze Music School in Tbilisi, conducted by Badri Jimsheleishvili. In the completely filled church, Czech soprano Ludmila Vernerová, Czech trumpeters František Svejkovský and Jan Verner, Georgian timpanist Teimuraz Giguashvili and Czech organist Martin Maxmilian Kaiser then performed compositions by Pavel Josef Vejvanovský, Georg Muffat, Antonio Vivaldi, Gottfried Finger, Georg Friedrich Händel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Liszt, Antonín Dvořák, Josef Navrátil (known in Georgia as Ratili), Bedřich Antonín Wiedermann, Marc-Antoine Charpentier and young Czech composer Ian Mikyska. 

The concert, which was attended by State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Georgia Viktor Dolidze, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Vakhtang Makharoblishvili, Deputy State Ministers for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Georgia Mariam Rakviashvili and Papuna Shengelaia, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Maia Panjikidze, Roman Catholic bishop His Excellency Giuseppe Pasotto, His Royal Highness Prince Juan Bagrationi Mukhranbatoni, members of Diplomatic Corps and many other lovers of classical music, met with extraordinary success; Czech artists Ludmila Vernerová, František Svejkovský, Jan Verner and Martin Maxmilian Kaiser and Georgian timpanist Teimuraz Giguashvili received a standing ovation.
