Czech Embassy hosted en event to mark Czech physician Jan Přibyl

On 15 April 2016 the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tbilisi hosted an event to commemorate the first physician with European education in Southern Caucasus Jan Přibyl, known in Georgia as Ivane Pribili (1782 – 1866). The event was organized by the Georgian-Czech Association Láska-Praha (Love-Prague) headed by its president Ioseb Bezhashvili.
 

The evening ceremony was opened by Ambassador Tomáš Pernický. The significance of Jan Přibyl for the history of medicine in Southern Caucasus was the topic of lectures given by Ramaz Shengelia, head of history of medicine department of Tbilisi Medical University, and Guram Mgaloblishvili, senior consultant of Navthlugh Military hospital.
