Czech pianist Marie Al-Ashhabová gives concert to mark Velvet Revolution anniversary

A concert performed by Czech piano player Marie Al-Ashhabová was organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Georgia on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Velvet revolution. Among the guests in the completely filled Piano Hall of the Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire were members of the diplomatic corps, members of the Parliament of Georgia, representatives of Georgian ministries, churches representatives, Czech compatriots and students of Georgian universities.
 

The concert was also dedicated to Valentina Kameníková, a Czech piano virtuoso of Georgian Jewish origin, to commemorate the 85th anniversary of her birth. The programme included works by Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and Prokofiev as well as piano compositions not so well known to the Georgian public, by Czech composers Bedřich Smetana, Leoš Janáček and Vítězslav Novák.

At the opening of the concert, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Georgia Tomáš Pernický asked the audience to hold a minute´s silence to pay tribute to victims of recent terrorist attacks in Paris.
