Delegation of Czech Senate´s Health and Social Policy Committe on a working visit to Georgia

On 11 – 16 June 2017, a delegation of the Committee on Health and Social Policy of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, headed by Chairperson of the Committee Mr. Peter Koliba, visited Georgia.  Other members of the delegation were:  Vice-Chairperson of the Committee Mr. Jan Žaloudík, Vice-Chairperson of the Committee Mr. Jiří Vosecký and Senator Jaroslav Malý.
 

During the stay in Georgia, the delegation of the Committee on Health and Social Policy of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic was received by His Excellency Mr. Irakli Kobakhidze, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, and held working meetings with Mr. David Sergeenko, Minister of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, and with Mr. Akaki Zoidze, Chairman of the Committee on Healthcare and Social Issues of the Parliament of Georgia.

Czech-Georgian relations with regard to the possibilities of deepening cooperation in the sphere of health care were discussed also with Mr. Giorgi Volski, Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Ms. Tamar Khuroldava, Chair of the EU Integration Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, Ms. Sofio Katsarava, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, and  Ms. Nino Goguadze, Chair of  the Friendship Group with the Parliament of the Czech Republic of the Parliament of Georgia. Representative of opposition political party European Georgia Mr. Giorgi Tsereteli also attended many meetings.

The delegation of the Committee on Health and Social Policy of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic got acquainted with Czech development assistance projects implemented in cooperation with the International Association for Aid to Children Suffering from Leukemia at the M. Iashvili Children´s Central Hospital, with the National Centre for Oncology, with the Association for People in Need of Special Care and with the Employment Union of the People with Disabilities. Czech-Georgian cooperation in oncology was discussed in the Ambassador´s residence with prominent Georgian experts.

During the second part of the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to  get acquainted with Czech development assistance projects implemented in Zugdidi and in Samegrelo–Zemo Svaneti region in the sphere of health care. The senators were received by the Mayor of Zugdidi and Deputy Governor of Samegrelo–Zemo Svaneti region and met with local medical staff trained by Czech specialists. They visited also the Administrative Boundary Line of Georgia´s breakaway region of Abkhazia and the village of Tserovani with internally displaced persons from the occupied territories.
