Czech Republic contributed to the preparation of a new development plan of Rustavi Municipality

In the framework of Czech development cooperation  and its tool  for sharing Czech expertise within Agenda 2030, Czech experts made an evaluation of  the existing green spaces in Rustavi Municipality and prepared recommendations for their further use in the process of creating a Rustavi Urban Development Plan.

The main objective of the project is to provide detailed evaluation of all functional green areas in the municipality, based on the ground-assessment. For each evaluated piece of green land (including non-functional) a set of recommendations and concrete measures for sustainable development was elaborated.

Another part of the project consisted in evaluation of landscape greenery with the focus on the river basin Kura, including examples of similar, successfully implemented small-scale projects. Another set of recommendations was focused on urban settlements greenery, including good examples from Czech Republic, to be reflected in new Rustavi Urban Development Plan. The complex document elaborated within this project is completed with a chapter on green infrastructure principles with concrete examples to be included in Rustavi Urban Development Plan.

Rustavi Municipality is becoming recently a dynamic city, searching to offer economically attractive and nice-to-live city, especially for young people. Czech Republic has been therefore cooperating with Rustavi in the framework of several projects. In the cooperation with Rustavi Innovation Hub, Czechs have implemented during last 4 years projects, for example on the support of youth involvement into local decision-making or innovative approach to connect students and private sector. In October 2023  Rustavi Mayor- Ms. Nino Latsabidze has taken part in a delegation of several municipalities representatives to Czech Republic, during which she participated in the Business Forum for Eastern Partnership and visited representatives of local administration, chamber of trade and private sector in the region of Zlín.
