The Czech Embassy supported a Seminar on Environmental Impact Assessment

A seminar on Environmental Impact Assessment (SEA and EIA) was held on September 12 - 13, 2018. The aim of the seminar was to present good practice on the basis of experience from the Czech Republic and provide scope for discussion on ways and approaches to applying SEA and EIA processes in Georgia.

The seminar was divided into 3 blocks. The first of these, which focused on legislation and procedures for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), was mainly attended by entrepreneurs, ministries and international organizations. The second block took place in the form of a roundtable with representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia. The last block, which took place the next day, was dedicated to the Strategic environmental assessment (SEA) issue. Participants were, in particular, officials of the ministries which set up national strategies with potentially significant environmental impact. Each of the above mentioned blocks was attended by about 25 people.

The seminars took place thanks to the cooperation between the Embassy of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, and the regional office of Integra Consulting.
