Czech Republic helping Afghan refugees in Iran

The Czech support enables the Iranian non-governmental Association for Protection of Refugee Women and Children (HAMI) to implement this year a project of establishing and equipping a tailoring workshop in the city of Mashhad. There, the Afghan women will acquire tailoring skills and necessary knowledge to encourage them to launch their own tailoring business and strengthen the economic self-sufficiency of their refugee families.

HAMI has got a long-term experience of providing educational and social services to vulnerable Afghan women and children. The Czech Republic supported its activities already during the previous year.

Iran has been long hosting an enormous number of refugees in its territory, mainly from neighbouring Afghanistan (almost 1 million registered and up to estimated 1.5-2 million unregistered refugees).
