A lecture on Czech literature took place September 29, 2018 in Book City in central Tehran
The Book City in the centre of Tehran organized an lecture about the Czech literature and it´s authors on September 29, 2018. Professor Zuzana Kříhová, Head of Iranian Studies at the Charles University in Prague, Professor Ivana Boztěchová, Head of the Czech literature at the Institute of the Czech language and communication theory of the Charles University and doctor Monika Růžičková, from the same university were main speakers at this gathering. The lecture was dedicated to professor Jan Rypka who devoted his life to the persian literature and poems and issued the well-known book History of Persian Literature, which was translated into 6 other languagues. We commemorate 50th anniversary of his death this year. Further the speakers presented Czech language in national and international kontext and Illustrators of Czech literature in Persian translations.
The lecture met with great enthusiasm. In the future, the Czech Embassy, in cooperation with Book City, plans to organize more lectures on Czech literature, discussions with Czech authors, an exhibition of books translated into Persian and an audio-visual presentation of Czech authors.
