Annual commemoration ceremony for Czechoslovak victims of holocaust in the Jerusalem Mountains 22 May 2017

On May 22, 2017 the traditional commemoration ceremony in memory to the Czechoslovak victims of the Holocaust was held in the Jerusalem Mountains. The event is organized by the association Hitachduth Yotsei Czechoslovakia together with Embassies of the Czechia and Slovakia.

Hitachduth Yotsei Czechoslovakia devoted the commemorative meeting to the 90th anniversary of the visit of Czechoslovak President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, the first head of state who visited in 1927 Jewish communities in Palestine.

The main speakers were N. Steiner, chairman of Hitachduth, C. Avital, Israeli politician and diplomat, K. Pažourek, chargé d´affairs of the Embassy of the Czech Republic, P. Hulényi, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic, S. Mičev, Director of Museum Slovak National Uprising in Banská Bystrica, Dr. Wein from Tel Aviv University, who spoke about T. G. Masaryk, historian E. Lotan, who spoke about political situation in Central Europe  between teh wars, and A. Fischer from kibbutz Kfar Masaryk. The cultural program was provided by the German choir from Zikhron Yaakov.
