Israeli Minister of Science Ofir Akunis visited the Czech Republic (25. – 27.6.2017)

Israeli Minister of Science, Technology and Space Ofir Akunis carried out an official visit to the Czech Republic on June 25-27, 2017. The Israeli delegation arrived to Prague at the invitation of Pavel Bělobrádek, the Deputy Prime Minister for Science, Research and Innovation.

Minister Akunis and the delegation visited the ELI Beamlines Laser Center in Dolní Břežany, the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and also the Czech Institute of Computer Science, Robotics and Cybernetics at the Czech Technical University. The key topics of the two delegations' negotiations were mainly the possibilities of further development of mutual cooperation in the field of science and the search for ways to further interconnect Czech and Israeli research institutions. Minister Akunis also met with the President of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic prof. Eva Zažímalová, rectors of selected Czech universities and representatives of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. Last but not least, the Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament, Jan Bartošek, also welcomed the Israeli delegation.
 

The Israeli Minister of Science was accompanied by the President of Ben Gurion University in Beer Sheva prof. Zvi HaKohen and the CEO of Afeka Academic College of Engineering in Tel Aviv, Alon Barnea. Both Israeli scientific institutions continue to work successfully with the Technical University of Liberec. All Czech-Israeli talks were also attended by the Czech scientific diplomat in Israel Delana Mikolášová.
