Children in Iksal received Honorable Mentions in International Children's Art Competition LIDICE 2018

Israeli children are regular participants in the competition and the Embassy of the Czech Republic to Israel is delighted to see three of them among the winners this year. Attaché for Press, Culture and Education Veronika Sidó visited the awarded children in Iksal village on December 6, 2018, to hand over the Honorable Mentions to only five-year-old artists. Zain Darawshi and Ahmad Suhaib Shalabi and their parents and grandparents did not conceal joy and emotion as well as their teacher, Mrs. Natasha Saadi who regularly prepares children for participation in the competition.
A visit to the Arabic community of Iksal was a meeting with members of the council and other representatives of the municipality responsible for the field of education. A tour of several classes in a pre-school facility where children are regularly prepared to participate in the competition was also a part of the visit.
The International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice (ICEFA Lidice) was established in 1967 to commemorate the child victims from the Czech village of Lidice murdered by German Nazis, as well as all other children who have died in wars.
Although national initially, this exhibition became an international one in 1973 and since then it has become well known among children and teachers in all over the world. In recent years, more than 25,000 very good works of art have come regularly by children not only from the Czech and Slovak republics but also from other 60-70 countries, including such distant ones as China, India, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka or Zimbabwe You can visit the current main exhibition at the Lidice Gallery from June through October each year.
