Concert of the Gertler string quartet, 24 June 2015

Czech Embassy, Czech Centre and Israel-Czech Chamber of Commerce and Industry invite you to a concert of the Gertler string quartet, which will e held on 24. 6. 2015, Wednesday at 18:00 at the Embassy of the Czech Republic (Zeitlin St. 23, Tel Aviv). Entrance free.

Gertler string quartet

Gertler string quartet is representative chamber ensemble of Buchmann- Mehta School of Music, Tel Aviv University. Members of this quartet are chosen every year based on an audition and they are under tutelage of the best professors for chamber music. Quartet was founded in 1980 and holds the name after great polish violinist Hermann Herschel Gertler who lost his life during Holocaust. Gertler quartet appears on concerts in Israel and abroad, this year has successfully appeared on concerts in Uruguay and Germany.



Pavel Kirs graduated at HAMU in Prague with Prof. Ivan Štraus and Prof. Bohuslav Matoušek and received Master’s degree. As a soloist he has appeared with many orchestras conducted by Charles Olivieri-Munroe, Petr Jiříkovský, Allejandro Jassan, Tomáš Koutník, František Vajnar, Michael Roháč, Martin Doubravský and Norbert Baxa in major works for violin by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Dvořák, Suk, Sarasate, P. I. Tchaikovsky, Lalo and Brahms. Pavel Kirs performed in many countries in Europe, China, Japan and South Korea. During his studies he has taken masterclasses with such distinguished artist as Shmuel Ashkenazy, Zakhar Bron and Pavel Šporcl. 2014 appeared Pavel Kirs in Brahms violin concerto with NCP Teplice and in Bach’s double concerto d moll with the legendary Czech violinist Václav Hudeček. In 2013 was Pavel Kirs studying in Berlin University of Arts and since 2014 is Pavel Kirs studying at Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv towards Artist Diploma, under the tutelage of Prof. Hagai Shaham. For year 2014/2015 is Pavel Kirs recipient of scholarship from Czech musical fund, Foundation “Endowment of Josef, Marie and Zdenka Hlávka’s” and Fr. A. Urbánek Foundation.


SANG-A KIM – Violin

Sang- A Kim graduated with bachelor‘s degree at Yon-Sei university in South Korea. She won two times a chamber competition in Sun Wha Art high school, and in 2001she won 2nd prize in Suk-Myung university soloist competition. In 2012 she continued her studies at Universität der Künste in Berlin with Prof. Tomasz Tomaszewski as an Erasmus student and in 2014 she finished her master‘s degree with the best study results at Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in the class of Prof. Ivan Štraus. In year 2013 she has appeared as a soloist with orchestra in Mozart violin concerto in Vienna with conductor Vladimir Kiradijev. This concert was broadcasted by Austrian radio. In 2014 she has begun her studies towards prestigious Artist Diploma at Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv, under the tutelage of internationally acclaimed violinist Prof. Hagai Shaham. This year she was awarded with a price for outstanding studying results.



Gili Radian-Sade is a recipient of Rachelle- Goldberg scholarship. As a concertmaster of Buchmann-Mehta School of Music Sypmhony orchestra she was awarded as the best student of a year. After her education in Israel she has taken many masterclasses with renowned violinists. She is an active violin and viola player in many chamber groups.



Yedidya Shaliv received his first musical training in Israel. He was a member of the Youth Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra. As a recipient of America-Israel cultural Foundation scholarship he participated in many masterclasses with famous Professors in Europe and Israel and attended many competitions as a soloist and as a chamber player. Yedidya Shaliv plays on a French instrument made by Mougenot loaned to him by AICF.
