International children's art competition LIDICE 2019 - Children of Iksal rewarded

Israeli children are already regular participants in the competition. This year there were 5 awarded children - Dana and Jaber Darawshi, Retal and Rayan Shalabi and Mais Jarrar received honorable mentions from Mrs. Veronika Sidó, Attaché for the Press, Culture and Education of the Embassy of the Czech Republic to Israel. Mayor of Iksal, Mr. Mohammed Rafea Shalabi and the head of the local school department, Mr. Ahmad Arif Jahjai, as well as their parents and teachers also participated in the ceremony. Children could not hide their joy and emotions, as well as their parents or their teacher, Mrs. Natasha Saadi. The Embassy of the Czech Republic would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her unceasing support and energy essential for the participation of the children. The visit to Iksal included also a visit to several classes in a pre-school facility in which children prepare to participate in the competition.

The International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice was founded in 1967 to commemorate the child victims of the Czech village of Lidice murdered by German Nazis and all other children who died in war conflicts.This originally national exhibition became an international exhibition in 1973 and throughout its history has become well known among children and teachers around the world. This year, the jury evaluated more than 15,000 works of art not only from the Czech and Slovak Republics, but also from other 60-70 countries, including such distant countries as China, Japan, the Philippines, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Sri Lanka or Zimbabwe. The main exhibition of the current edition can be visited every year from June to October in the Lidice Gallery in Lidice.
