Tourism Fair IMTM 2018

On 6.-7. of February the 24th International Mediterranean Tourism Market IMTM was held in Tel Aviv, focusing on both domestic and foreign tourism. Exhibitors from different corners of the world promoted their countries to the public as an interesting destination for the next holiday. On the Czech stand, organized by CzechTourism, exhibited companies such as Eurospa a.s., hotel Venus, Léčebné Lázně Mariánské Lázně a.s., Fashion Arena Prague Outlet//Via FAOC s.r.o, Cristal Palace a.s., Živý kraj -DA pro KV kraj, z.s., Centrum Babylon a.s., Plzeň - TURISMUS, p.o., Bohemia-lázně a.s., sanatorium Kriváň – Slovan, Kubík Sněžka s.r.o., Destinační společnost Východní Čechy, 2. DSP, s.r.o., Redvale a.s., Ústecký kraj, D.I.R. Bohemia, spol s.r.o..
The program included a lecture titled Czech Republic - Land of Stories. The purpose of this lecture was to draw attention to the tourist potential of the Czech Republic and to point out the existence of other interesting destinations apart from Prague, which Israelis most frequently visit within the Czech Republic. The introductory word for the lecture was given by Mr. Ivo Schwarz, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Israel, the core of the lecture was a presentation by the main Czech tourism agency CzechTourism. In the end there was space for a short presentation of the exhibiting Czech companies and also for a raffle, in which several of the Israeli visitors won, for example, staying in a spa or hotel in the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic is a popular destination for Israeli tourists and their number is increasing every year. For the first three quarters of 2017, over 140,000 visitors from Israel visited the Czech Republic, which constitutes a year on year increase of 12.1%. In addition, the Israelis spend in the Czech Republic an average of 4.9 days, which is the longest stay apart from visitors from the Russian Federation. In the total number of overnight stays, only two non-European countries - the United States and China – surpassed Israel. Some of the reasons for the popularity of the Czech Republic among Israelis are for example a friendly atmosphere and a good security situation.
