Representatives of Czech universities met with leading Israeli tech-transfer experts in Tel Aviv

Representatives of tech-transfer offices of 8 Czech universities attended the international ITTN conference on technology transfer which took place from October 25 to October 28 in Tel Aviv. Aside from participating at various topical seminars with Israeli experts, Czech delegates also met with their Israeli counterparts at Technion in Haifa and Afeka Academic College of Engineering in Tel Aviv.
 

Israeli universities and research institutes are considered world leaders in successful commercialization of academic research into business sphere. A block-buster drug against multiple-sclerosis named Copaxone (patent of Weizmann Institute of Science), disk-on-key (patent of Tel Aviv University) or the core of Mobileye autonomous driving technology are just several examples of Israeli successful tech-transfer stories. “ITTN” acronym stands for „Israel Tech-Transfer Organisation“ that is an influential umbrella organisation of all tech-transfer offices of leading Israeli universities and hospitals. Members of the Czech delegation participated at a thematically-oriented ITTN workshop organized by the Weizmann Institute of Science as well as at an ITTN field trip to several med-tech R&D accelerators in the Northern part of Israel.

The Czech tech-transfer mission to Israel was consisted of 21 delegates and was organized by the Czech Embassy in Tel Aviv in cooperation with the Czech Transfera association. Representatives of 8 Czech universities took part in the ITTN mission: University of West Bohemia, Charles University, Palacký University in Olomouc, Czech Technical University, Mendel University in Brno, Technical University of Liberec, University Hospital Hradec Králové and Technical University of Ostrava.

Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tel Aviv organized a lecture on the Israeli start-up ecosystem at the premises of the Embassy. Czech delegation also visited Technion in Haifa and Afeka Academic College in Tel Aviv where they met with their Israeli counterparts in order to discuss concrete forms of cooperation. The Czech tech-transfer mission to the ITTN conference was financially supported by the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic as part of the PROPED financial tool.
