Classical concerts by Czecho - Albanian artists held in Tirana and Vlora on the National Day of the Czech Republic

Two top-rated classical concerts took place in Tirana and in “Petro Marko” Theater in the southern town of Vlora, by brilliant Czecho - Albanian artists on the occasion of the National Day of the Czech Republic. Soprano Ulpiana Aliaj, and violoncellist Bledar Zajmi and pianist Egli Prifti - who both had studied in the Czech Republic and established their career there - came to Tirana to share with the public the best Czech and Albanian melodies from the most prominent Czech and Albanian composers.

Soprano Ulpiana Aliaj graduated from the "Claudio Monteverdi" Conservatory in Bolzano. She is the winner of several international awards, among which the 1-st prize in the "Eistendorf" Competition, London; 3-rd prize in the "Ruggero Leoncavallo" competition; the 3-rd prize and the public prize in the "Martinelli - Pertile" competition, etc. Affirmed in the international arena, she debuted in important roles such as Mimi in "La Boheme", Violeta in "La Traviata", etc. Currently, she continues her artistic career; she is a lecturer at the University of Arts, and artistic director at the R.L.I.O.F. International Opera Festival.

Pianist Egli Prifti completed his Master's and Doctorate at Charles University in Prague, as well as a second doctorate at the Academy of Arts in Prague. For several years, he worked as a lecturer at Charles University in Prague, and in the meanwhile, he was an invited lecturer at the University of Arts in Tirana and at the New York University in Prague. He currently continues his career as a pianist and lecturer. He is a lecturer for the youth programs of the Philharmonic, and the Czech Radio, constantly records contemporary works for the state Radio, and co-operates with orchestras and ensembles in the Czech Republic and yonder.

Violoncelist Bledar Zajmi is currently solo-cellist and concertmaster at the National Theatre in Prague, Czech Republic. He is laureate of National and International Competitions. In 1992 he won a scholarship at the Academy of Music in Prague (Prof. Rudolf Lojda), where he graduated in 1997 with Master's degree in cello with the highest rating. Through the years, he has developed a strong artistic career on three continents, in over thirty countries worldwide, with over 15 solo and chamber music records, with a broad artistic repertoire from baroque music to contemporary.

The concerts included selected pieces by Czech composers: D. Çene - Prisoner’s right; B. Martinů - Variations on a Slovak folk theme; A. Dvořák - Aria "Moon in the deep sky" from the “Rusalka” Opera; Janáček - Moravian folk poetry, in songs /selections; J. Ježek - Bugatti step. Whereas from the Albanian composers were performed pieces by A. Peçi (Grand Master) - In our house; A. Naçi - Song of life between land and sea I, II); R. Sokoli - Fantasy for cello and piano.

The beautiful performances by the three talented artists lighted Tirana and Vlora and gave an exceptional elegance to the celebrations of the Czech National Day.
