Czech and Slovak Film Days to be launched on October 11th, 2022

On the occasion of the 100-th anniversary of the Czecho-Slovak relations with Albania, the Czech and Slovak Film Days will be launched at Marubi Academy on Tuesday October 11th, 2022.

The screening will start with the Czech film “Havel”, to be followed by “The Teacher” (SK) on October 12th, “Kolya” (CZ) on October 18th  and will finish with “The Auschwitz Report” (SK) on October 19th .

All movies will start at 19.00 hours and the entrance is free.

Havel” brings the story of one of the most prominent figures in Czechoslovak history. The film focuses on President Havel’s tumultuous personal life, which is dominated by struggle for truth and the right cause, persecution, imprisonment, as well as love relationships.

Kolya, directed by Jan Sverak, is a movie about a middle-aged man who unexpectedly becomes the father of a Russian boy. The story begins in 1988 as the Soviet block is beginning to disintegrate. Kolya has won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and Golden Globe Award for best Foreign Language film.

The Teacher is a Slovak drama, directed by Jan Hrejbejk. The movie is about the arrival of the new teacher, Maria Drazdechova, to a Bratislava suburban school in 1983, and life turns upside down for children and parents. It will be screened on October 12th.

The Slovak drama The Auschwitz Reportis directed by Peter Bebjak, and will be screened on October 19th.  This is the story of an escape plan by Auschwitz prisoners.
