Ambassador's visit to Akita Prefecture

From 13 to 15 October 2021, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Japan visited Akita Prefecture, where he met with the Governor of the Prefecture, ceremoniously opened the Tsurunoyu and Onokusa hydroelectric power stations and visited the Museum of Modern Art in Akita.
 

From 13 to 15 October 2021, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Japan, Mr. Martin Tomčo, visited Akita Prefecture. On the first day of the official visit in the Prefecture, Ambassador made a courtesy visit to the Governor of Akita Prefecture, Mr. Norihisa Satake. They discussed together the current and future relations between the Czech Republic and Akita Prefecture.

The following day, on October 14, the Ambassador participated at the solemn opening of the two hydroelectric power stations named Tsurunoyu and Onokusa, which power water turbines are manufactured by the Czech company Marvel. These are the 26th and 27th hydroelectric power stations in Japan which use a Czech water turbine. The hydroelectric power stations will support local life in the Nyuto-onsen hot spring resort, which has a long 400-year tradition.

On the last day of the visit to the Akita Prefecture, the delegation visited the Akita Museum of Modern Art and discussed with its director Mrs. Keiko Nakamachi on future cooperation following the last summer exhibition of the famous Czech painter Alphonse Mucha and the accompanying banners exhibition of the 100th anniversary of the Czech-Japanese diplomatic relations. In the museum, the delegation had the opportunity to see some of the most famous paintings of Akita Prefecture, including "Akita Rangy", a West-inspired oil painting from the Edo period.
