Ambassador's visit to Kochi Prefecture

The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Japan Martin Tomčo visited from 7 to 9 July, 2021 the Kochi Prefecture, the city of Kochi and the city of Susaki, which support the Czech Olympic national team as host cities in preparation for the Summer Olympic Games.
 

On the first day of his visit, the Ambassador met with Mayor of Susaki Mr. Kosaku Kusunose and visited a boat and canoe camp, where the Czech national canoeing team began training this week before the Summer Olympic Games. In Susaki, the Czech canoeing team has been preparing a Uranouchi downhill for canoes with the locals for five years, the athletes will train in this environment until the end of July before competing in the Olympics.

On the second day of his visit to Kochi Prefecture, the Ambassador made a courtesy visit to Mr. Seiji Hamada, Governor of the Prefecture. This was followed by a meeting with Mayor of Kochi Mr. Seiya Okazaki. The Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the implementation of the Olympic camp in a fulfilling environment. Although everyone in Kochi is still under coronavirus measures, they welcome the Czech team with cordial support. The Czech Olympic national team started the camp this week, rowing and canoeing take place in the town of Susaki and swimming and athletics in the town of Kochi. Altogether 45 Czech sportsmen, including coaches, take part at the training in the camp. Thanks to the warm support of everyone in Kochi, the athletes of the Czech national team will be able to perform at the Olympics and achieve excellent results.

In the town of Kochi, the Ambassador also visited the OTEPIA Kochi Library, where a panel presentation prepared by the Czech Embassy on the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Czech Republic and Japan is on display until the end of the Olympic camp.

The last day of the trip was dedicated to visiting the Makino Prefectural Botanical Garden and the campus of Kochi University of Technology.
