Ambassador visited Nagoya and handed over cup to winner of the Grand Sumo Tournament

From July 24 to 26, 2022, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Japan visited Aichi Prefecture, where he presented a Czech crystal cup to the winner of the July Grand Sumo Tournament and met with representatives of the prefecture.
 

At the end of July, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Japan, Mr. Martin Tomčo, visited the prefecture of Aichi, the city of Nagoya, where the finals of The Grand Sumo Tournament took place on July 24 in the Dolphin's Arena in Nagoya. Sumo wrestler Takashi Ichinojo became the winner of the tournament. At the closing ceremony, the Ambassador presented him with a diploma and a hand-cut cup made of Czech crystal of the brand Moser.

The program of the visit in the prefecture continued with a courtesy meeting with the governor of the Aichi Prefecture, Mr. Hideaki Ohmura. During the meeting, there was a positive talk about future cooperation between the Czech Republic and Aichi Prefecture. There are currently 277 Japanese companies operating in the Czech Republic, of which 36 are from Aichi Prefecture. Furthermore, there are active academic exchanges between ten Czech universities with seven universities in Aichi Prefecture as partner universities.

The program concluded with a visit to the Toyota Takaoka Assembly Plant in the city of Takaoka, where the Ambassador met with the director of the plant and greeted the Czech workers who came to the Toyota Assembly Plant in Takaoka for several months lasting special training.
