Friendship Envoy of the 100 Years of Diplomatic Relations between the Czech Republic and Japan

On 29 October 2019, during the reception at the occasion of the National Day of the Czech Republic, H.E. Martin Tomčo, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Japan, awarded three representatives as the Czech - Japanese Friendship Envoy.
In connection with the upcoming 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between then Czechoslovakia and Japan in 1920, Ambassador Tomčo handed over certificates to Ms. Eri Kiribuchi, Ms. Fumiko Ishioka and Mr. Kenichiro Kobayashi (in absentia), appointing them „envoys of friendship“ between the Czech Republic and Japan.

Kenichiro Kobayashi (小林 研一郎)

Worldvide known conductor Born in Iwaki, Fukushima. who started composing music at the age of 11. Kobayashi won the 1st prize and the special award at the International Conductors Competition on Hungarian television in 1974. He has led orchestras in Germany, Austria, Britain and Netherlands. He has been resident conductor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and Kyoto Symphony Orchestra. Kobayashi was appointed to the principal conductor of Japan Philharmonic Orchestra (1988–90), chief conductor (1990–94, 1997–2004), music director (2004–07) and conductor laureate since 2010. He has held the regular guest conductorship with Czech Philharmonic.

Eri Kiribuchi (桐渕 絵理)

A great hockey player - goalkeeper, who was inspired to start her own career after seeing the Olympic victory of the Czech ice-hockey team in Nagano 1998. At the age of 12 she moved to the Czech Republic where the city of Kladno became her ice-hockey home. After graduating she continued her studies and an active ice-hockey career at Baye State University in Minnesota, USA, and later in Canada, at the World Hockey Center in Toronto and in Carleton Lady Ravens in Ottawa. Currently she plays at her home town for the Hachinohe Red's. Furthermore, Ms. Eri Kiribuchi is fluent in Czech.

Fumiko Ishioka (石岡史子)

Director of the Tokyo Holocaust Education Resource Center (Kokoro). She is known worldwide especially in connection with Mr. Jiri Brady, with whom she had an extraordinary friendship, and also for her colaboration on the film Hana´s Suitcase (also screened at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo). In March 2017, Mrs. Ishioka was awarded a statue of "an Angel for a Better World" made by the children from the town of Malá Morávka, given to her by the Minister of Culture Mr. Daniel Herman.
