Glass of wine held for a ceremonial opening of the Czech Presidency in the Council of the EU

On the occasion of the start of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which takes place from July 1 to December 31, 2022, a glass of wine was held at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo, where the Minister for World Expo 2025, Mr. Kenji Wakamiya, made a ceremonial toast in the presence of high representatives of Japan, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense of Japan and EU Ambassadors.

 

On July 1, 2022, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo organized a celebratory glass of wine for the opening of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union. During a symbolic ceremony, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Japan, Mr. Martin Tomčo, took over a flag of the European Union from the Ambassador of France to Japan, Mr. Philippe Setton, as the country that presided before the Czech Republic.

In addition to the above-mentioned Ambassadors, high-ranking Japanese representatives also gave a speech at the event. In their speeches, they confirmed the importance of cooperation between the European Union and Japan. Among the distinguished guests was the Minister for World Expo 2025, Mr. Kenji Wakamiya, who gave a ceremonial toast.

The social event was complemented by an exhibition dedicated to Richard Mikuláš Count Coudenhove-Kalergi, which presents his "Pan-European" idea and his personality as a co-founder of the Pan-European Union not only to the Japanese audience. The National Heritage Institute, the city of Poběžovice and the Pilsen region participated in the realization of the exhibition in cooperation with the Czech Center Tokyo.
