Handover of the Czech Cup to the winner of the July Grand Sumo Tournament in Nagoya

On Sunday, July 18, 2021, the final match of  the July Grand Sumo Tournament took place in Nagoya, where Yokozuna Hakuho won his 45th title with his victory. During the closing ceremony, the winner was awarded by a diploma and a Czech crystal hand-cut cup by a representative of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo.
 

According to long tradition established in 1970, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Japan presents the winner of the Grand Sumo Tournament with a diploma and a hand-cut cup made of Czech crystal glass. This time Ambassador Martin Tomčo was deputized at the ceremony by the economic diplomat of the Czech Embassy, ​​Mr. Ondřej Svoboda. He handed over the diploma and the cup to Yokozuna Grand Champion Hakuho, who defeated Ozeki Terunofuji, and thus won his 45th title. The victory came on the last day of the July Grand Sumo Tournament. Hakuho also extended his own impressive record by winning his 16th tournament without losing. Congratulations!
