At the end of September 2021, the finals of the Grand Sumo Tournament took place in the Tokyo hall of Ryogoku Kokugikan, whose sovereign winner was the sumo wrestler Terunofuji. During the closing ceremony, the winner was awarded by a diploma and a Czech crystal hand-cut cup by a representative of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo.

According to a long tradition established in 1970, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Japan presents the winner of the Grand Sumo Tournament with a diploma and a hand-cut cup made of Czech crystal. At the September tournament, Ambassador Martin Tomčo was deputized at the ceremony by the economic diplomat of the Czech Embassy, Mr. Ondřej Svoboda, who handed over the diploma and the Czech cup to the 29-year-old Mongol sumo wrestler Terunofuji. Congratulations!

Terunofuji entered the September Grand Sumo Tournament for the first time in the highest rank of this sport, Yokozuna, and with a total score of 13-2 he had no competitor this time and confirmed that his promotion was well deserved.
