Handover of the Czech Cup to the winner of the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament in Osaka

At the end of March 2022, the finals of the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament took place in Edion Arena in Osaka, whose winner was the sumo wrestler Wakatakakage. During the closing ceremony, the winner was awarded by a diploma and a Czech crystal hand-cut cup by a representative of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo.
 

According to a long tradition established in 1970, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Japan presents the winner of the Grand Sumo Tournament with a diploma and a hand-cut cup made of Czech crystal. At the final ceremony of the March Tournament, on behalf of Ambassador Martin Tomčo, Mr. Lukáš Zícha, Consul of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo, handed over the diploma and the Czech cup to new sekiwake Wakatakakage.

The sumo wrestler Wakatakakage thus entered the history of sumo with this match on March 27, 2022, when he secured his first title in his career. Congratulations!
