Czech puppet theater Alfa´s performance at the Embassy

On Monday September 12, two theater performances were held at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo in cooperation with the Czech Center Tokyo, not only for the little ones. Children with their parents and other guests enjoyed the premiere puppet production of the play "Watch out, Zorro!" by the Alfa puppet theater from Pilsen, which is on its umpteenth tour of Japan.

Czech puppet theater has been very popular in Japan for a long time, and interest in it grew even more in 2016, when Czech and Slovak puppetry was added to the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage.

"An adventurous puppet comedy with a minimum of words, but a lot of action and live music. The creators of the production - Liberec dramaturge and playwright Mr. Vít Peřina and Alfa Theater director Mr. Tomáš Dvořák - were loosely inspired by Johnston McCulley's book ´The Mark of Zorro´ and its film adaptations, especially the film of the same name from 1920 with Douglas Fairbanks in the lead role." - Alfa Theater

The puppet comedy "Watch out, Zorro!" won the hearts of the Japanese audience, who praised the actors and musicians with long applause after both performances at the Embassy. We thank the performers for a beautiful and fun experience!
