Webinar "New Trends in AI in Central Europe and Japan"

In the framework of the current Presidency of the Czech Republic in the Visegrad Group (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) was organized a webinar on New Trends in Artificial Intelligence in Central Europe and Japan which took place on Thursday 18th June 2020. The event was part of the regular series of the "V4-Japan Technology Seminars" which have been organized annually in Tokyo. This year, due to the coronavirus-related restrictions, the event was held online and and was organized by the Embassy of the  Czech Republic and the CzechInvest agency.

Introductory remarks were given by Mr. Martin Tlapa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic for Non-European Countries, Economic and Development Cooperation, Mr. Martin Tomčo, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Japan and Mr. Naokazu Takemoto, Minister of State for Science and Technology Policy and Minister in charge of Information Technology Policy of Japan.

Keynote lectures were then presented by four esteemed AI researchers from V4 countries, namely Dr. Tomáš Mikolov (AI Team Leader from the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics in Prague), Dr. Péter Galambos (Director of Antal Bejczy Center for Intelligent Robotics at Óbuda University in Budapest), Mr. Robert Kroplewski (Plenipotentiary to the Minister of Digital Affairs of Poland) and Prof. Mária Bieliková (Chairperson of the Slovak Research Center for Artifical Intelligence - Slovak.AI).

The webinar covered topics such as current trends of AI, deep learning, data sharing, development and application of advanced AI for industrial robotics and control systems in both Japan and Central Europe and it was viewed online by more than 150 attendees.
