Consul General Ivan Počuch held a debate with representatives of the Canadian International Council

At the invitation of the Canadian International Council in Winnipeg, Ivan Počuch as a keynote speaker, attended an evening discussion in which he addressed topical European political, security and economic developments to the Canadian International Council Members.

As a part of his visit, the Consul General was invited to a meeting of the Canadian International Council where he introduced current developments in Europe and the European Union to Canadian International Council members. The Canadian International Council is a non-governmental organisation with 15 branches across Canada whose aim is to increase the role of Canada in the field of international relations as well as increase the awareness of the Canadian public on topics of international relations from political and security developments to economic issues.

In his speech, he desribed the current state of affairs related to the political situation and security in Europe as well as presented opportunities that CETA brings for the further development of economic relations between the European Union and Canada. He  pointed out the longstanding close ties of Canada and European countries  in many security and economic issues as well as the fact that it is necessary to concentrate on intensifying and deepening cooperation. The presentation was met with a very positive response from the participants who followed up with various questions that confirmed that the members of CIC are very knowledgeable in international relations and demonstrate a very good awareness of important international affairs.
