Entry of Canadian citizens to the Czech Republic without any restrictions beginning July 13, 2020.

(This article expired 17.11.2020 / 16:15.)

A notification issued by the Ministry of Health on July 10, 2020 pronounces that the category of countries with low level risk of COVID-19 that do not meet the condition of reciprocity, has been omitted. For the Canadian citizens this means that as of this date they are able to travel to the Czech Republic with no restrictions (within the framework of visa-free travel for a maximum of 90 days during any 180-day period).

Based on notification issued by the Ministry of Health on July 10 2020, Communication No. MZDR 20599/2020-14/MIN/KAN (so-called "green list"), the list of countries with low level risk of COVID-19 has been updated as of July 13, 2020. The main change for Canada is the removal of the category Low risk countries with the condition of reciprocity.

All third countries that are on the list have been transferred into a category Green countries without reciprocity. The change specifically concerns Australia, Japan, Canada, Korean Republic, New Zealand and Thailand. The change has been implemented as a constructive gesture of the Czech Republic towards our partner countries with the intention to motivate them towards facilitating unrestricted travel for citizens of the Czech Republic.

For the Czech Republic missions in Canada, this modification changes the scope of the performed visa services from limited to full, effective July 13, 2020. Visa applications are accepted only on confirmed appointment basis (e-mail: toronto.appointment@gmail.com).

We wish to remind you that the reductions of the Consulate General operations are still in effect and are set out by local authorities and conditions. It is therefore unavoidable to expect longer appointment waiting times.

Contrary to the pre-pandemic situation, all foreigners applying for Schengen or Long term visa or Long term residency permits for the purpose of economic activity or study in the Czech Republic will be required to submit Confirmation of an entity receiving in the territory of the Czech Republic a third country citizen for the purpose of economic activity or educational activity.
