Warning! Czech border closure for travellers from Canada - valid from November 9, 2020.

(This article expired 08.09.2021 / 18:00.)

As of  November 9, 2020, the borders of the Czech Republic will be closed, with limited exceptions, to travelers from countries not on the list of the Czech Republic's Ministry of Health Travel Directive, that categorizes countries in relation to their infection rates overall. This Directive is issued in accordance with the recommendation of the EU Council. Therefore, on November 4, 2020, the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic issued a decision removing Canada from Travel Directive, meaning that border closure applies to travellers from Canada as of November 9, 2020, until further notice. Czech citizens with valid Czech travel documents can travel to the Czech Republic without any entry limitations.

The Entry Ban Exceptions apply to Canadians and residents of Canada who are holders of a long-term visa or long-term permit in the Czech Republic or in any of the EU countries, to travellers whose journey is in the national interest of the Czech Republic and to travellers in exceptional and emergency situations. For any travel that might fall within the exception cases contact the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic at cestovani.covid19@mvcr.cz or at the hotline  +420 974 820 680 - option no. 3.
