Handover Ceremony of “Making Milk Valuable: Milk Collection” local small-scale project held

“Making Milk Valuable: Milk Collection” local small-scale project (worth $16,000) of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ulaanbaatar and ADRA Mongolia has been implemented successfully. At the ceremony held at Sky Plaza on September 12, 2019, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Mongolia H.E. Jiří Brodský handed over 62 stainless steel milk cans and 6 cream separators to Mr. D.Batsaikhan Governor of Zavkhan province and the Governor delivered them to the representatives and herder families of Ider soum.

The stainless steel milk cans were manufactured by Czech company Pacovske and transported from the Czech Republic together with cream separators by the EGT Express, Czech logistics company. This simple devices will help local herders to store and transport milk in certified and durable cans with caps and to get the cream for further processing. With this project, the Czech Republic contributed to MACU (Mongolian Artisanal Cheesemakers Union) and ADRA Mongolia’s joint big project to build a small cheese plant which will produce up to 200 tons of quality yak, sheep and goat cheese annually in Ider soum.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Mark Webster Regional Director of ADRA Asia, Mr. G. Munkhjargal Director of ADRA Mongolia, Mr. Michael Morrow Director of MACU LLC, T.Gantogtokh Head of Food Production Policy Coordination Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Light Industry, and private companies of the food processing industry. All participants praised the Czech contribution to the project and expressed their willingness to further cooperate in the development of the agricultural, and food processing industry of Mongolia.
