Czechia is helping the disabled people in Mongolia

(This article expired 27.04.2023.)

The Czech Republic is the one of the donors continuously contributing to the social development of Mongolia since its re-start of the Official Development Assistance of the Czech Republic in Mongolia back in 1996.

This year another local small scale project is going to be dedicated to creation of the permanent job opportunities for persons with disabilities. To kick-off project realization, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Mongolia Mrs. Ivana Grollova and Mr. S. Ganbold, Head of the Green Journalist NGO solemnly signed the project contract on 20.03.2017.

With a financing of ODA of the Government of the Czech Republic provided through our embassy, ‘Tavt Group/Five Group’ project is going to be implemented in 2017 by the “Green Journalist” NGO, which unite young journalists under their Journalists for Social Development Campaign.

Inspired by the success story of Madam Kh. Odjargal, who struggled to earn income, personally overcame various challenges and established successful business, the project is aiming to empower 3 groups of 15 disabled individuals, mainly deaf at this stage, to train them and to provide them the necessary knitting and sewing machines, along with the initial raw materials. Their final products will be sold via fair trade shops and national producers’ boutiques, as well as online social network and specially developed website. In the meantime, journalists are to do some mass media coverage, promoting the sales of the products and inspiring others who have the will and interest to work. Last not least, its long-term vision is to scale up the project to another 16 groups of 80 individuals in next 2 years.

Green Journalist’s motto is inspiring “Mongolian development is not depending only on skyscrapers in downtown UB. It can only really develop once participation of all society members is inclusive and equal”.
